Our research group lead by Prof. Balaji Srinivasan is dedicated to exploring and developing novel optical fiber-based solutions for real-world problems in industrial, defense and healthcare applications.

Currently, we are exploring a variety of novel optical fiber-based devices and subsystems for several of the above applications. Specific areas of research include:

Generation and decomposition of optical beams with orbital angular momentum (OAM)

Distributed acoustic sensing using coherent Rayleigh back-scattering

Distributed strain/temperature sensing based on Raman/Brillouin scattering
